With the season nearly over it is with sadness we hear of the passing of John Watts a former player & Captain of the Blacks. John was a conerstone of the pack in the late 50's and early 60's where he played in the 'boilerhouse'. He was a very proud man when he was given the honour of captaining his village in the 1957-58 and 1960-61 seasons.
Not content with just playing for the Blacks, John was part of a group of Members who took it upon themselves to build a new clubhouse in the village. The work started in 1962 & was completed in 1965. All the work was undertaken on a voluntary basis and we are all greatful to John & his fellow volunteers as their hardwork & craftsmanship can be seen to this day as we all still call this place 'our home'.
John's funeral will be held at Llanelli crematorium on Wednesday 1st June at 11am & our condolences go out to his wife Betty, son Philip & the extended family.
We have also learned of the passing of Gary 'Caleb' Williams a former youth player in the 1970's and club photographer whose rugby carrer was cut short by a serious motorbike acciedent. He was also a committee member and a loyal supporter of the club. Gary's funeral will also be held at llanelli crematorium on Tuesday 31st May at 1pm and our coldolences go out to his son Owain & the family.
