1st XV v Loughor

1st Home game of the new campgain seen local rivals and estabilshed Division 2 side Loughor visit the Memorial Park.

Burry Port havent lost a competitive game at home for over a year and from the outset you could see that they were in no mood to let that record slip showing attacking intent from the off and had it not been for a couple of final passes going astray would have taken a healthy opening lead but in the end only managed to lead 13-5 at half time through a Pen try and two Gar Rees penalites. Even though the score was close everyone could sense that another try for Burry Port would probably open the flood gates as Loughor were struggling to cope with the open style of play the Home team were playing, but to their credit it was Loughor who got the next try after a series of penalties they worked thier way up to the tryline and after a well worked lineout manage to cross to close the gap to 13-10.

However that score seemed only to lift the Home teams energy levels and after a marked improvement in the teams discipline they started to put Loughor under some serious pressure, The running power of Centre Tom Bowen and the Back Three players of Luke Rudal, Owen Thomas and Gar Rees finally started showing some results with Winger Rudall finishing off in style to score a great try.

It was all out attack from here on in with back and forwards running at every oppurtunity and set piece also dominating with frontrow trio Declan "enforcer" Jordan , Iwan Roberts & Jonny Ryan all putting in impressive 80 minute shifts.

The next try finally came through impressive 2nd rower Macaiah jones and with the Home team now on the hunt for an all important Bouns point try and the score that would make the game safe up popped replacement Ceiron Thomas to cross in the corner. The game was won and now the Blacks were enjoying themselves and continued to throw the ball around and after a few surges up field led by capatin Dylan Evans allowed Macaiah Jones to cross for his 2nd try and the last of the afternoon.

Final score Burry Port 38 - Loughor 10

Next up for Burry Port are two tough trips,  next week they travel to Fishguard and the week after they are back on the road to Pembroke, And eventhough the coaches are delighted with this victory they know sterner tests await in this league and will need to prepare well this week if they are to come away with anything from Fishguard.

There will be a supporters bus travelling to the away games, please contact stats for info and come and support the BLACKS
