Christmas Derby Win for the Blacks

The Blacks kept their supporters in the Christmas spirt with a fine bonus point victory over neighbours Trimsaran. The game was played in good spirt throughout and with both teams playing decent rugby the large crowd had plenty to cheer about.

The blacks controlled the game throughout but were never able to pull clear on the score board untill the last 5-10mins with Duane Evans scoring the all important bonus point try.

Many on the home side had impessive games, with veteran N0.8 Dylan Evans leading the team well and picking up Forward of the Match award. Young tighthead Archie Davies put another fine display in and coninues to improve every game. Ioan Rees got through a huge amount of work and as always Rich parker, Oli Dunleavy and Tom Rees put in fine displays.Young Declan "Beans" Jordan continues to put the effort in on the loose head and is improving in confidence every game and with the return of hooker Iwan Roberts who has been missed in recent weeks sees a Blacks pack full of on form players.

The Backs also all had really good games too. especially centrtes Knox and Evans who both tested the the Trim defence on severasl occassions with Evans picking up the Man of Match award after his 2 tries.  Full back Adam Rudall is starting to get back to his best form after a season interepted by injuries and both Wingers Owen Thomas and Adam Davies looked sharp in difficult conditions. Half backs Stef Powell and Ben Williams managed to control the game well and showed some great game management in the 2nd Half.

All the replacements played their part too. Rich Sammuel sured up as creeky scrum, Lock Adam Webb made plenty of yards with some fine carries. Andy Francis showed some lovely touches and went over for an important Try, Ashley phillips brought some tempo to the game when he come on at 9 and finally it was nice to see winger Luke Rudall back on the field after serveral weeks out due to work commitments.

So all in all the Blacks are in a decent postion overall and with a tough month coming up in January everyone needs to contiune their form to keep in the hunt for the league table.

Next Match is on Saturday against Llandybie away.
