The Young Blacks had to give everything they had to edge this gripping encounter, fielding as usual a very young team with a couple of seasoned veterans it was the Blacks who got off to the better start with the scrum doing plenty of damage in the opening half but Burry Port failing it make it count on numerous occassions.
The 1st score of the day was a penalty by Stef Powell just before the half and soon after the 1st try was scored by ever green No.8 Dylan Evans( still scoring tries as he edges towards 350 appearances for Burry Port) after another powerful 5m scrum, Powell converted to make it 10 nil to the visitors.
Half time and Pontarddulais came to life with 3 quick unanswerd tries to suddenly take the lead 17-10, Burry Port looked rattled and were gulity of failing to get out of trouble and gain any territory., With the game looking like slipping away the Blacks regrouped and finally got themselves back into it through a well taken try by Rhys Williams, Conversion missed 17-15 and only 4 minutes to play.
The game was now in the balance and after an infringement on halfway by the Home team Burry Port kicked to the corner, a couple of lineout drives and plenty of pick & gos finally seen centre Duane Evans power over to retake the lead 17-22 with the successful conversion.
Two minutes remaining and this time it was Burry Ports indiscipline that give Pontarrdulais the opportunity to snatch it at the end, with a 5m lineout stopped just short and heroric defence going into injury time the Blacks somehow held out for a well earned victory away from home.
The coaches know the Team got away with one here but will also be pleased with the hunger and desire shown to put thier bodies on the line to get an important Victory.
