8 Try Rout see the Blacks crowned League Champions
On another glorious day in front of a big crowd, the Memorial Park faithful were treated to another feast of running rugby from a super charged Burry Port team who were determined to gain promotion with two games to spare. Nantgaredig are a good team and are in 3rd place in the league and had a notable cup run this season reaching the quarter finals, so they were no mugs, but the Blacks have hit fine form and Nantgaredig could not match the pace and power of Burry Port. This season has seen the Blacks develop resilience away from home and they have had to grind out victories playing no frills rugby, but as the season continued it was noticeable that their confidence was growing and in doing so the ability to go through the gears and add pace to the game was crucial in seeing off many a determined team. Nantgaredig tried hard but struggled to match the free flowing Blacks and their target was reached in the first half with a 4th try sealing their status as league champions. The crowd, including many from Bynea who were hoping for an upset to help their title ambitions, were thoroughly entertained and there was no question as to who the superior team was. Praise must be given to the coaching staff for ensuring the home grown squad were well prepared for the challenges this season, and for the efforts of the players to see the job through in a long season. Burry Port were presented with their trophy following the final whistle and can be pleased with their efforts and will look forward to setting themselves a challenge of back to back promotions. But before that challenge they face Bynea at the Memorial Park and will want to keep their unbeaten home record this season. Final Score Burry Port 66-11 Nantgaredig
