Burry Port RFC travelled to promotion rivals Nangaredig and returned with a three try victory that secures their spot at the top of Division 3 West B. The opening exchanges were frenetic and the Blacks looked dangerous and set out their intentions to move the ball wide at every opportunity. Nantgaredig weathered the initial storm and the game was slowed down with pedantic whistle-blowing. A mis-timed tackle by winger Tom Bowen resulted in a yellow card and Burry Port were the wrong end of a frustrating penalty count and Nantgaredig took their opportunity with two penalty kicks to take the lead at 6-0. During this period Burry Port started to keep possession and the home defence was tested as the young Blacks launched attacks from deep with Luke Rudall going close but a try was disallowed. Centre Duane Evans crashed over after sustained pressure for a well deserved try to make the score 6-5. The half continued with Burry Port playing a high tempo game with superb handling skills on show from forwards and backs, and it tested a strong Nantgaredig team who had tasted success this season with a notable cup run. The home defence had to break as powerful winger Tom Bowen found his way to the line despite the best efforts of the Nantgaredig defence. Nantgaredig kicked another penalty to make the half time score 9-10.
With the ref finally allowing a fast and open game, the second half saw a tremendous contest as the fluid handling of Burry Port was pitched against a solid and well organised Nant defence. With a high percentage of possession and territory, Burry Port dominated long periods and a clever cross kick from Ceiron Thomas found Luke Rudall who crossed out wide. Nant were getting tired and started conceding penalties and Ben Williams slotted over two to stretch the lead further to 9-21 with 10 minutes to go. Nant rallied and worked their way into the Burry Port half and showed why they are serious title challengers with a try from a perfectly weighted cross kick to make the final score 14-21 to Burry Port.
Burry Port coach Gareth Gravell said “I’m really pleased with the result, the boys worked hard and showed a lot of character to come away with a win. We have a series of home games against Betws, Lampeter, Natgaredig and Bynea, and they are massive games for us. We were happy with the travelling support, it lifts the boys and we hope to end the season on a high playing in front of a packed Memorial Park.” 
Burry Port remain top of the table 2 points clear of Bynea and with a game in hand.
