On a very wet afternoon Burry Port made the short journey to local rivals Trimsaran in what is always a tasty encounter and Saturday was no exception.
The Blacks started in good fashion applying plenty of pressure on the home team tryline but were stopped by some good defending and it was Trimsaran who got the first points of the match with a well struck penalty to take 3 point lead.
Burry Port continued to control possesson and with Simon Bevan dominating the scrums The Blacks always looked the stronger team but were far from having everything their own way. Trimsaran were giving as good as they got at the breakdown and managed to slow the Blacks ball down at ruck time.
Burry Port did manage to score two well taken tries through winger Adam Davies and Hooker Iwan Roberts to take a well deserved 10-3 lead but on the stroke of half time Trimsaran pounced on a Burry Port mistake to score a converted try and make it 10 all going into half time.
The second half seen the Blacks up the tempo and with half backs Ben Williams and Dan Etteridge controlling field position were able to take controll of the match. Brothers Luke and Adam Rudall both looked sharp with ball in hand and caused the Home team all sorts of problems.
The next try came from short range as Ben Williams reacted quickly with a tap and go to dive over the tryline which he also converted. 17-10 and looking in control the Blacks went on the hunt for a bonus point try but also knew the game was far from won. The weather was making handling difficult and with Trimsaran refusing to lie down the Blacks were made to work hard. However when Trimsaran kicked clear from their own try line a fine piece of counter attacking from impressive winger Luke Rudall beating numerous defenders and drawing the last defender for hard working second row Bryn Jenkins to stroll over the tryline for a vital Bouns Point try. Score now 22-10 and game seemingly won with only five minutes remaining.
From the restart Trimsaran secured the ball and after serveral phases managed to get the ball wide and sneak in the corner to make it 22-15 and only one score away from upsetting the blacks afternoon, but to Burry Ports relief as Trimsaran raced back to half way for the restart the Referee blew for full time.
