Burry Port vs Loughor

The Under 15's travelled to Loughor for their second game of the 2017-2018 season. Charlie Davies, fresh from being elected captain by his teammates led the side. Due to a couple of unfortunate injuries some of the boys were forced to start the game in unfamiliar positions and the game was started with 14 a side. This didn't stop the boys working really hard and putting the opposition under pressure. New additions this season to the squad Carlwyn and Carwyn Jones were quick to make their presence felt in the pack. The new additions boosted an already impressive group including Kieran Lewis, Dylan Williams Ethan Evans, Rowan Downey and Jason Morgan. The new look back line put the ball through the hands at every opportunity with Steffan Rees and Ethan Burt combining in the midfield on several occassions.  The Blacks created some real pressure with some clever kicks from Lewis Daniel and Aaron Williams. Indeed, it was one of these clever kicks and following chase that led to the Blacks opening try of the game where Jason Morgan and Cian Thomas combined to tap down. Special mentions must also go to the lineout forwards who won every lineout on our own throw, and we disrupted the opposition on a number of occassions. There were several contenders for the 'Man of Steel' and 'Moment of the Match'Awards - notable contenders were Charlie Davies, for his non stop tackling, Jason Morgan for his non stop carrying and energy and Kieran Lewis for his Screwball kick clearance. The winners were extremely deserving however, Dylan Williams for his outstanding bravery and heart playing on through pain to be a constant nuisance to the opposition and Carwyn Jones for a carry where he brushed off at leat 8 would be tacklers in a barnstorming run.

Coach Sam Collins said "I'm extremely proud of the effort and heart we showed against an excellent team today in Loughor RFC." In difficult circumstances the boys applied themselves and are beginning to think on their feet and make positive decisions on the field that ultimately put the opposition under pressure and earn them points. I'm really chuffed that they continued to work hard deep into the second half when conditions got really challenging and to see them taking on board some of the plays we are trying to develop is really encouraging. We know we have got work to do to improve but we are excited with how we will look as a team in the very near future"
