Ladies v Tumble Match Report

The Ladies welcomed newly formed Tumble rfc to the Memorial Park on Friday night under the Flood lights and with this being a friendly match BurryPort took the oppurtunity to rotate the squad and give some players some much needed game time and try some players out in different positions.

Sam Jones  started at Full back, Kelly Gravell moved from prop to No.8, Roxanne Perego played her first game in the Back Row and there was also a Burry Port debut for veteran player Kath Gravell as she made a very impreessve return to the playing field.

As the score line suggests it was very much a one sided affair with the experience of the Burry Port team too much for Tumble but it must be said Tumble are a new team who have only played a few games together very much like ourselves last season and to their credit never give up and showed some good potential.

Burry Port Ladies were in fine form with Kelly Gravell enjoying her role as Number 8 with a strong ball carrying performance and debutant and try scorcer Kath Gravell leading from the front at loose head prop. The ever impressive keely Evans and captain for the night  marshalled the team well and had a very decent night kicking off the tee too.

Other players were deserve a mention were centre Lauren Petche who scored two very good tries, Eleri Williams who is always a running threat from outside half, Betsan Williams at openside who always gets through a huge amount of work and also very popular squad member Sarah Thomas who managed to cross the tryline with her 1st ever try.

The coaches would have been very pleased with all the players and it makes selection for the up and coming league and Cup quareter finals very interesting, which is how it should be.

Ladies next match is Sunday 2nd April Deri RFC away. Supporters Bus leaves Club 12 noon.
