1st XV match report Nantgaredig away

Burry Port travelled to 3rd place Nantgaredig on Saturday in thier last away league game of the season knowing that nothing more then a victory would do. And with serveral players missing due to work committments and a wedding the squad would be fully tested.

Burry Port got off to a great start to calm the nerves with openside Webb breaking clear from a lineout and putting 2nd row Bryn jenkins clear to score the 1st try, converted by Ben Williams. From there on Burry looked in rampant mood and another two quick tries followed by impressive N0.8 Dylan Evans and early replacement flanker Llyr Sims, again both converted by Williams. 21-0 and only 15 mins played the Blacks went looking for an early bonus point try but were guilty of forcing the play a bit too much and a few errors creeped in and allowed Nant to capitalise and score a couple of tries to reduce the lead to 21-14.

A few nerves started to appear on the pitch but after a powerful run by No.8 Evans and a well timed pass to Williams the scrum half was able to cross under the posts for an important bonus point try. Converted by Williams. The 1st half finished with another try this time by 2nd row Rhys Gravell who bulldozed over from short range. converted by Williams.

The second half was more of the same with Burry Port running the ball at every opportunity and really strecthing the home defence who were struggling to cope with the pace of Burry Ports back line. Burry Port made some replacements and give Youth players Ashley Phillips and Ben Edwards some much needed experience at senior level and both put in very impressive performances.

Further tries followed by Dylan Evans crossing for his 2nd, Winger Adam Davies and a brace for winger Luke Ruddal to round off another great team performance.

This Bonus point victory sets up next weekends massive winner takes all game against unbeaten Amman Utd at Burry Port Memorial Park.
